Job Description:
We are seeking a Security Consultant in the Chicago, IL area. JENSEN HUGHES is a global leader in specialty engineering consulting services, protecting property, life, and the environment through our innovative engineering solutions and technologies. The position will work on a wide variety of projects in the federal, commercial, and industrial arenas.
Primary Responsibilities and/or expectations:
Perform existing condition surveys of building and facilities
Perform security needs assessments of buildings and facilities
Create security system plans and details for inclusion in project permit drawing set and/or bid packages
Create point-to-point wiring diagrams for security systems
Create and edit construction and equipment specifications
Create and edit policy, design, and standards guides
Select appropriate hardware and software for varying clients and applications
Work closely with client on a regular basis for project definition, development, estimating, and project support
Requirements:
Minimum of 10+ years of experience in security system design to include current knowledge of AutoCAD, Microstation and/or REVIT
CPP and/or PSP certification preferred
Knowledge of low voltage systems (structured cabling design (copper/fiber), relay logic design, basic IP networking, electrified door hardware)
Knowledge of basic construction, electrical, building, and fire codes
Electronic security system manufacturer’s certification(s) a plus
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree is desirable
Electrical Engineer or Electrical Designer with knowledge, experience, and certification(s) in the following types of electronic protective systems:
Security (Security Management, Access Control, Video Surveillance and Intrusion Detection Systems)
Fire Alarm
Two-way Voice Communications .
