Executive Protection And Technical Security Specialist Role

The incumbent coordinates and conducts armed and unarmed executive protection assignments within General Motors Global Security sections to ensure that designated executives are provided with a safe and secure environment in compliance with General Motors policy guidelines. Provide physical protection to reduce and/or mitigate threats and vulnerabilities to designated protectees.

The Incumbent Serves As The Executive Protection Programs Technical Authority In The Following Technical Security Specialized Programs; And Maintains Technical Proficiency In The Following Areas

Also, the incumbent develops and implements comprehensive technical programs for protective advances involving designated GM Executives and large-scale events; as well as provides and implements technical solutions at protected facilities and residences.

Technical Surveillance Countermeasures
Fire Protection and Life Safety
Intrusion Detection and Video Surveillance
Access Control (Electrical and Mechanical)

Responsibilities Include

Domestic and International travel to specific sites to perform executive protection assignments as required, often on short notice.
Develops and prepares overall security plans, Advance Security Survey reports and other written documents as required.
Identifies, designs, installs, maintains and monitors unique or specially tailored technical equipment, protection systems and physical security systems for GM facilities and protected residences.
Plans, organizes, documents, and implements technical surveillance and mobile munitions countermeasures to ensure a safe environment for GM Executives. Identifies specific requirements and correlates them with the planned movements of the executive to ensure that necessary support and countermeasures are provided at the proper time and place. Performs specialized protective operations such as motorcade route security, ballistic armor installation and mobile intrusion detection.
Analyzes and evaluates the latest known technologies (e.g. state of the art intrusion detection systems and devices) that may potentially be used by hostile entities, both domestic and abroad, either independent or as groups to penetrate sites or otherwise harm executives.
Performs protective advances, conducts surveys and evaluates the latest known technologies (e.g. state of the art intrusion detection systems and devices) that may potentially be used by hostile entities, both domestic and abroad, either independent or as groups to penetrate GM sites or otherwise harm executives.
Plans and manages explosive searches. Determines and defines parameters of special projects designed to improve security solutions, K-9, detection systems, threat countermeasures and response plans.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree or higher education degree with five (5) years of experience in executive protection or related field.
10 years of progressively responsible experience in security, law enforcement, military or related industry (Preferred Experience).
Excellent planning, organization, leadership, and management skills.
Computer skills in word processing and spreadsheet programs.
Ability to use good judgment, demonstrate flexibility and act in a decisive manner in emergency situations.
Ability to obtain multiple state investigator’s licenses and CPR/First Aid Certifications.
Ability to successfully complete, on a quarterly basis, a designated firearms qualification course.
Demonstrated ability to work as a team leader.
Demonstrated the ability to proficiently operate and maintain firearms in a safe and effective manner. Additionally, candidates must successfully qualify at an approved firearm shooting program.
